Research Storage

Managed by the Office of Information Technology, Research Storage is a data storage solution for NC State researchers. Research Storage is available for both funded and unfunded research and supports the work of individual researchers, multiple investigators and other collaborators.

There are two types of storage available:

  • Individual Faculty Storage is available to all NC State faculty. This storage space is good for unfunded research or long-term research that may or may not be associated with current grant funding.
  • Active Project Storage is available for all active projects in the RED system. A project is only eligible for one allotment of Active Project Storage no matter how many investigators are listed on the project.

Each storage type receives an initial 2 terabytes (TB) of storage space. This space can be increased to up to 30 TB at no cost on a case-by-case basis. At any given time, researchers can have both Individual Faculty Storage and Active Project Storage.
